It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum reviews in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency.
