World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The upgrade feature for items allows players to increase the item level of equippable weapons or armor. This improves the power of the equipment, in addition to sometimes adding buffs or the rerolling of an affix.

The amount of Gold needed increases as an item level upgrade is upgraded.

An upgraded item will also have increased stats, which could boost its performance in a variety of ways. This includes increasing the power of its attack and critical strike chance or damage per second. In addition an upgraded item might be able to provide extra bonuses to its equipped unit. These upgrades can be utilized to boost a variety of purposes, including to boost the overall power of a particular or group unit. They also can be a significant influence on gameplay.

The items can be upgraded at any item upgrader NPC in the game. In general, these NPCs are located in major cities or questing spots. Players can also locate item upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses, and by chatting with NPCs in their faction's garrisons.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by the item's level and its quality.
