WoW Upgrades - The item upgrader kit Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also increased with each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor item level upgrade or weapon. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level upgrade level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item level upgrade has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
