BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or adding a new lock to bypass the security system.

In contrast to other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LEDs or Ghost immobiliser key fobs. It uses the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to enter a unique sequence of disarming that you can only remember.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a brand new BMW or used the stop start feature, you may have noticed that when you stop the engine the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for a signal that comes from the ignition key. Once it finds this the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or adding aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to your BMW's CAN network and programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code that is accessible through buttons in your car. This allows you to enter the key push sequence that isn't found available in the usual menus for media, like volume up/down or cruise control, source or aircon on that prevents your car from starting until it is entered. The PIN could be between 4 and 20 numbers, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to guess or crack.

In addition, we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system, this is activated when the car is in for servicing to ensure that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. This can be done by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return, the Ghost will automatically arm again.

Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the most effective immobiliser available. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. It works by utilising the factory buttons on your vehicle to create an individual sequence of pushes that only you can identify, much like pin code security on your mobile phone. It's incredibly secure, discreet and can deter even the most obstinate thieves!

If you're at home and in the event of a meet and greet the Ghost can be set to service mode, which allows you to start your car with your keys as normal but stops the engine from being started until the proper code is entered. This is perfect for customers who have to give their vehicles to valet service companies, or Ghost immobiliser trusted family members or friends. This lets you take your car to the garage for servicing, or other maintenance. without worrying that it will be altered by mechanics while you wait.

Once the service / valet mode is activated, it will block your BMW from being able to drive when it is first started. This stops anyone from testing the vehicle while you are away. After you return, the vehicle will revert to normal and will not be damaged or stolen.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated the security technology has to improve, which is why ghost 11 immobiliser has developed this discreet and unobtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from acquiring a new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and then drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before the engine can be started.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will sharpen the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stall the vehicle if the code is not found. The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode that allows your vehicle to start and drive without having to enter your PIN.

If you have an GPS device connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is stationary. If you own a smartphone, you can also link it up to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful if a valet or mechanic has to start your car, but you have to be somewhere other where. The system allows you to start the vehicle by selecting drive, then leave the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be fitted under the dashboard or within the centre console, it is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is programmed into it. This pin code needs to be selected before the vehicle is started. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to disable this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter a security mode and shut down all functions until the PIN code is entered, or you make use of the mobile app to disarm it. This is a feature that was created to safeguard your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your vehicle. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phone to activate your sat-nav or MP3 player to track your vehicle!

Ghost can also stop the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most common method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen with a key-fob that was copied or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to prevent this kind of theft by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is installed inside your vehicle's key-fob and removes the battery after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
