WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
