Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to upgrade your gear in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This allows you to upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items effectively.

Upgrades in equipment can add an increase to the item's base stats. The amount of bonus varies depending on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components make your weapons and armour better. You can acquire them by the destruction of enemies, finding them in spheres of items or buying them from karma merchants. You can also get them from equipment that contains the components or by using high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items upgrades aren't destroyed when removed from an item.

Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other purposes. They can be used to increase the quality of an upgradeable item or they can be used to increase the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear.
