Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items (a cool way to improve) allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, Upgrade items the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, upgrade items weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the item's name. For instance, adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items, instead of spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. To determine the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to an established reference point, like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an Item Upgrader Kit's strength, damage, or other characteristics. This can be done via the item upgrader menu or clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be done in rare cases.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Sets

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. It will show the item level upgrade's features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards.
