Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved through upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through many different methods such as the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their value.

Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Glyphs also improve the recall of a message by evoking an emotional connection in the brain.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain amount. This is shown on the item upgrader when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is the maximum value that the glyph can enhance a stat by and not the amount it actually increases the stat by. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the item you are admiring.

Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from an item, you will need to save it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

When you take away an item after adding a glyph the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to increase its value. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who suffer many hits from enemies, but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or Upgrade Items even from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens are also a good option to reroll stats on weapons and can be upgraded for better damage or additional perks.

Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they can be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button" you can recycle the rerolled items. This will alter the appearance of the window for Upgrade items the item, and allow up to six items to be selected for recycling. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its gauge of level. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable to recycle than lower-leveled ones.
