Obtaining a Driving Licence C+E

The most comprehensive HGV license is the C+E. This licence allows you to drive an HGV with trailers or semi-trailers that weigh more than 750kg.

The course for Category CE is an obvious progression from the training that leads to Category C. It involves driving on roads that have different traffic densities and on training tracks.

Requirements

A driving license is an official document that proves that the driver has met all legal requirements for driving. These requirements vary from country to country, but the majority include passing an exam and not having a history of traffic violations. The tests are usually divided into practice and theory however there are a few exceptions to this rule. The first step in obtaining a driver's license is completing a driving course and passing the theory test. The driver must be physically fit to drive, and some countries require proof of this, which includes a medical exam.

The next step is to get a Category C license, or a Car Driver's License. This permits you to drive passenger vehicles, trucks and trailers with a maximum weight of 7.5 tonnes. If you already hold a Cat C license, you can upgrade to the Cat C + E license, which allows you drive articulated heavy-goods vehicles up to 44 tons.

You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a Category C license. The C+E driving licence is the most hgv-advanced category available. It blends the categories C and E and is the most comprehensive hgv license you can get. Training

The driving test usually lasts around 1.5 hours and involves following a specific route. The examiner will inform you about directions and reroutes.

After completing the course, a person receives a learner’s license (LL), which is valid for six month. The LL permits drivers to drive on public roads as long as a licensed driver is on the road with them. Driving without a qualified instructor is a crime.

The student will receive an official certificate following the completion of the course from an approved driving academy. This certificate needs to be presented to a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) when applying for a driving license. The VIO will then conduct a driving test to determine if the applicant is ready to drive a category C+E lorry.

The VIO will issue a permanent license once the driving test has been successfully completed. The license will include information about the driver, like his name and father's name and date of birth, address, authorized vehicle types, emergency contact information, blood group, fingerprint impression and photograph. The driver must undergo a medical exam before obtaining the license.

Exams
