Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're looking for a buggy run with or just a stroller that can be used for strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spots.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Be prepared with a repair set.

Sturdy frame

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the noughties that had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more flexible and simple to drive, while also looking fashionable.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with the newborn baby and a toddler and found it very durable. It was able to withstand grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflated and require to be pumped up regularly they have suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.

The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to consider. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat that lets your child face you, whereas others only allow a parent-facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. They also make it easier to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful in the event that you hit the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel will rise up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel all terrain buggy wheel pushchairs feature air-filled tyres, which means they can be used on different terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They're also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.

This can be an issue when you're using it for a jogger or you need to be able to get through doors that are narrow when out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that let you remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheel buggy can be more comfortable to drive with children. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are extremely easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground with the swivel rear wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed with how well it coped with kerbs, especially when using the hand-operated brake. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's larger wheels sometimes mean that it can struggle in tight spaces, something to be aware of when you live in a urban area. If this is a problem, a 4-wheel buggy might be a better choice for you.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also adored the spaciousness of the buggy. There's a nimble large basket that's quite spacious for a buggy that's this big. Plus, there's also an excellent pouch on the back seat unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets beneath the hood where you can keep your phone and keys.
