The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning robot mop and vacuum.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, robot hoover the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning robot mop and vacuum for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
