For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
