WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item level upgrade (talking to) by +3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade item level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, item level upgrade with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade items to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item upgrading level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
