BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost Immobiliser Car utilizes the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves adding a new key or even replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a valid PIN code to begin the engine.

Ghost developed this discreet device that is obtrusive, and unobtrusive to fight the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to stop thieves from using a key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before the engine can be started.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators. If it fails to find the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode that allows your vehicle to begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you have an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it could be used to turn off the Anti-Hijack feature, so you can still use the navigation system in your car when the vehicle is parked and unattended. If you own a smart-phone, you can also hook it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go capabilities. This is helpful when you need to be somewhere in another location and valet or mechanic needs to start your car. The system lets you start the vehicle by selecting drive, then leave the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle's location in real-time on a map displayed on your smartphone, which is ideal for tracking your car when moving around.

The Ghost 2 immobiliser can be positioned under the dashboard or within the centre console, it is completely hidden and tamperproof and does not require additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal PIN code is programmed into it. This pin code needs to be entered prior to the vehicle's start. This stops thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is being stolen the Ghost will enter service mode and disable all functions unless you have the PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. Ghost can also stop "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most popular method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob that's been duplicated or stolen through hacking. The device is inserted into the key fob of your car and then disconnects the battery after a few inactive minutes. This is possible with the majority of modern PKE keys.
