Bedside cots (also called co-sleepers or bassinets) are designed to allow parents to rest with their baby at night without risk of SIDS. However they are only suitable for use up to 6 months of age when your baby will need to be moved into a cot or a moses basket.

Mehack, a MFM home tester, was impressed by the fact that this model features a bassinet that can be used throughout the home. It also comes with the ability to rock manually. It was easy to assemble, and came with its own travel bag.

Size

Cots and cots differ in terms of size in size, with cots smaller than beds for cots. They can also be converted into toddler beds, whereas they are typically used for up to three years. old. Height

When choosing a bedside cot sale cot be sure to choose one that can be raised up to a height that is comfortable for feeding your the baby. MFM mom home tester Jasmine was awed by this feature, saying that it was simple to use and made reaching her baby easier particularly after her c-section.

Chicco Next2me Magic is another option. It won Gold in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards as the best bedside cot Cot, Moses Basket or Crib. It is machine washable and comes with a liner, reflux incline, and a rocking feature. It's bigger than the other bedside cribs that we tested, but it folds into its bag for travel, making it compact when not in use.

Leya, MFM mum home tester also appreciated the 4-in-1 bedside crib crib's function. She said it was designed for both parents and children. It is very easy to move and extremely sturdy. Its swivelling base is fantastic as it means you can move the bassinet from side to side and one of its sides can be opened down to ease access especially for new mothers who are recovering from C-sections,' she added.

Safety

A large bedside cot's main safety feature is that it can easily be moved up or down so that parents can reach their child to feed, comfort or change his or their nappies. This makes it ideal for new mothers who may still recovering from a C-section. It is recommended to choose a design which allows you to lower the sides of the bed with a single button press. This allows you to lift your child without having to get out of the bed. This is essential, especially when your baby grows and becomes more mobile. Beware of items that could increase the chance of injury or suffocation, such as duvets and pillowcases, which can cause your baby to overheat.

The CPSC's NPR includes 24 incidents that are attributed to product-related issues that include gaps between the bedside sleeper (adult bed) and the bedside sleeper (12 incidents) and Large Bedside Cot enclosed openings with fabric sides (11) and consumer disassembly (6 incidents).

In its NPR the CPSC considered the possibility of introducing additional requirements to bedside sleepers. For instance, these products would have to meet the minimum side height requirements for bassinets or at the very least, the maximum height requirements for the rail that is lowered. The CPSC decided, however, that these requirements weren't feasible or effective in reducing the number of incidents where infants are trapped by the bedside co sleeper rail and an adult bed.

The majority of the incidents covered in the NPR concerned multi-use bedside sleepers which can be converted to other types of equipment, like play yards or bassinets. A number of commenters suggested that the CPSC include a different option to the proposed rule for bedside sleepers with multiple uses that would permit them to meet minimum side height requirements for bassinets by using an attachment that is removable. The attachment can be permanently attached or removed when the product is not being used as a baby bassinet.

The CPSC is examining these comments and others received in response to the NPR on bedside sleeping. The Commission will consider these comments when deciding on the final rule which is expected to be published in November 2021.
