Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, [Redirect Only] structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum that mops we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the automatic vacuum cleaner and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or [Redirect Only] spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance.
