Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.

First, place the fob onto an uncluttered work surface with the logo facing upward. Find the button that will release it. Place a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and gently pull it up.

Locking the Door

Place your key fob on the table with the Volvo logo facing up to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open the cover that protects the manual key blade. This cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.

Starting the Engine

This is useful when trying to squeeze into a tight parking spot, or even just when you need some fresh air in the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, should you have one. Once you're done driving you can shut everything by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to activate your car's panic alarm. It will emit the alarm sound loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It will also assist you return home safely if you've been out all night. This feature is handy should you reside in a hazardous area or want to protect your family while away from home.
