WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrades level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade item the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using a button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader kit upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. They can use Flightstones, which are a common upgrade currency available to everyone, or crests, which are more specialized and consumed during upgrades at specific item levels. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
