World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

item upgrades upgrading - explanation - allows players to boost the gear score of an item to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like an ideally rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. They also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a single unit. This bonus could exceed the damage that an upgrade alone can do.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrades to weapons also alter the stats of their base. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

Armor items can also be upgraded to improve their performance. In the case of chests or helms it will boost its base defense while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it could reroll to a lower value.

There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the corresponding fountain, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. It is possible to use anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it for physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
