Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Upgrades to items allow players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item upgrader mod in the game, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however the materials required don't increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.

Rerolling
