Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help pull away debris from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, but not by much. The mop rotates at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots. This is helpful when getting into tight corners or along baseboards. The same front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot vacuums best mops and vacuums I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when vacuuming or mopping. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture and other obstacles. We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up hair of pets. It was able to capture many of the hair that sheds from our cats. The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it has distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock that doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a clean sink and the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start cleaning or recall the robot vacuums with mop or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as a power cord draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. This is a rare event however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert in its app.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy units.
