The best robot vacuum that mops Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, [Redirect Only] a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for best Robot cleaner emptying.
