The S1 was able to map my downstairs quickly, which includes flooring in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms and also a carpet in the middle and a large area. It was able to drive close to walls without hitting them, and even managed to cross thresholds that were raised in the room without problem, although it sometimes struggled to get down stairs in a single step. The S1 did a good job cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and swung up when it came to carpets or rug.

Prior to each mopping session the docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills the water tank with clean filtered ozonated water. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-off maintenance making it a top contender for our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition, and an extended side brush will give you an efficient, customized clean.

The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, picking up fine and large debris from both hard floors and carpets. It also cleaned our test's most soiled areas efficiently, while keeping pet hairs from getting caught in knots and other dirt. The sweeping power is enhanced by an additional side brush that automatically extends to reach hard-to-reach corners, and an extending mop pad that is placed along baseboards.

Its navigation system is intelligent, navigating narrow spaces and climbing stairs without missing a beat. It can go from one room to another without having to reverse direction. This is a great feature for large homes with multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance system is not as advanced than its competitors, however, and tends to leave a thick space around obstacles, which could result in missed spots.

The interface of the app is simple and well-organized. It should be easy to use by both novice and experienced users.
