WoW Upgrades - The item upgrades Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item Level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
