Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are multi-functional, multi-purpose partners of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots for your child's next adventure.

A pram newborn is designed for newborns and babies. It has a deep, sturdy carrycot that has soft and secure walls.

A pram typically comes with a bassinet, but it can be converted into an infant stroller seat once baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns are extremely fragile and should be kept as secure as possible. A stroller or pram that has safety features will keep your baby in a safe and comfortable environment during travel. The most essential requirements for any pram or stroller newborn are to have a working brake, a 5-point safety harness (2 shoulder straps, 2 waist straps and an Crotch strap) and a wrist tether strap for the person pushing the pram. Make sure that the pram you choose is up to the standards before you purchase.

Find a stroller that allows your infant to be seated in the suggested lie-flat position. This position supports the baby and prevents the risk of a dangerous spinal curve that can cause spinal problems. By keeping the airways open, it lowers the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams are able to be used from the moment of the moment of birth. They have seats that recline to lay flat for infants, and can be converted into a triple pushchair for older children.

Find a pram that has two shoulder straps (ideally cushioned) and a sturdy five-point safety harness that fits your child's body safely. Make sure there aren't any gaps or areas, where fingers could be trapped. Also, make sure that the buckles are safe for older children to operate. You should also consider if you'd like an adult-facing pram. It is ideal for keeping an ear on your child and helps them feel more secure having their parents around.

You will also be able to put your shopping bags and changing bags inside the basket beneath (although be aware that loading the pram with too much weight can cause it to tip over).
